Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat - Cania Gorge (near Monto), Qld.

Well this is the second time I've been to Cania Gorge and it just seems to get better and better!

The first time I went we stayed at Cania Gorge Caravan and Tourist Park which was ok but a bit pricey as it is a Big 4 van park. It is more suited to families (with no mortgages!) whereas the the Tourist Retreat is more bushy with less 'add ons' and so a tad cheaper. The Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat is set next to the National Park. Many walks are easily accessed from here and I went to the Fern Tree Pools each day ... a distance of 5.2km's (round trip). There are other shorter and longer walks all easily accessible The Van Park has both powered and non powered sites. Our powered site was $25.20 per night with discount. The toilets are clean and well maintained. There are washing machines and one dryer. There is a well stocked camp kitchen for those on non powered sites. It had quite a few electrical appliances for use of campers as well as a TV. The pool was a bit cool this time of year but would be great in the warmer months.

Errr ... took the phone cam ...

We're hoping to go back but due to selling vans, buying vans etc it prolly won't be until next year.

That looks like a great spot..

It's a top place ... something for everyone. Fishong or swimming at the dam (which is now full ... first time apparently), bushwalking (simple walks or overnighters), widlife, regional towns close by, etc.etc.

Yeah we're planning another trip before we sell our current van ... appears that the van pack is rarely booked out so that suits us!
