Baffle Bobs Caravan Park, Baffle Creek, Qld.

This is a nice caravan park with a rural outlook. It seems to have a
bad rep. amongst some ppl as according to a few of the reviews I've
read they were giving it one star. My own opinion is that for a
caravan park that is well and truly out 'in the sticks' it's a
terrific place to spend time away from the crowds especially if you
are into fishing or swimming.
There are some small van sites that you might want to stay clear of
but in general the park has decent sized sites although manoeuvring a
large van could be fun around some of the tight corners.

There are also ensuite sites (I love 'em!) which are large enough to
cater for most large vans although in the showering area you might
find yourself showering with a tree frog. However, the extra $3 is
certainly worth the money, especially if you are there for an
extended
period of time.

There is a nice pool (just fish out the cane toads and you'll be
fine)
and Baffle Creek itself is about 100 metres behind the park and there
is a ramp for your dinghy. You can even try fishing from the bank but
just make sure you don't snag those expensive lures!

We liked the country/ rural atmosphere and will certainly be heading
here again.

The website is a tad misleading as the pool isn't working anymore, the bowling green is usable but the club house isn't, the golf course doesn't exist anyore and the amenities were barely adequate. He does however hire very nice new boats.

We tried to get an ensuite but they were booked out in advance. I think this would have changed our overall outlook. There wasn't enough amenities to go round and they were basic. Yes sharing your space with frogs was very common and quite sweet.

We had a lovely time here, and the spot is gorgeous with wild life such as birds and lots and lots of roos that eat the nicely cropped grass, but over all it's an older caravan park that is sorely in need of some TLC. Just up the road there is 4WD access to Rules Beach and you can drive all the way up to Middle Creek (another camp ground - must take all your equipment as it's beach camping). Rules Beach is beautiful.

I believe Baffle Bob isn't as well as he once was and as a result the park probably doesn't get the same attention it once did.

Having said all of that - the people that were there (plenty of them) were all return visitors who caught up and enjoyed their happy hour each night with bon fires and lots of chatting. We did enjoy our time there, but yeah it was a bit of a let down.

p.s. they allow well behaved dogs.

When did you go? It must be getting busy if you couldn't get an ensutie site.

I'm surprised Baffle Bob is still around ... he's been a sick man for a long time.
