I fill mine to maximum and keep it there ... the less air the less contamination.

The other option is to rinse them out with a special soap but it can take a long time to get rid of the residue and if it's drinking water then ... BLEAUCH!!!

All my pipes are under the van and are black so hopefully no algae forms.

Hope this helps.

Scolly.

thanks scol Very Happy
the pipes i put under mine when i replaced them were the clear ones & i noticed that the part that was exposed under the van ended up getting alge in it while the part in the van was still clear so i might change the hoses to the black ones & see how that goes. Very Happy

I've always used I think its milton steriliser solution. The stuff you do babies bottles with. I pour a whole bottle in the tank, fill it let it sit for a bit then drain and flush a few times. (Waste of water I know) seems to work ok at keeping clean and safe and I figure if it good enough for babies bottles............

Should leave the tank empty, not full, because while you might keep out the algae there are other nasties out there. Chlorine generally will only give you a day or two of protection.

Periodically sterilise as sharky suggested.

thanks troy Very Happy seeing that i have a new tank i'll be steriliseing it once a month just to be sure,
i remember what it feels like to have bad water pale No i don't want that again.
as for algae in the pipes i'm going to wrap then in black tap to keep the light out + i can check them each month as well.
