Derek's site has a lot of good recipes in the forums if want to try something a little different.

The chocolate self saucing pudding is quite simple and goes well in the camp oven.

Setting the Temperature in a Camp Oven
Did you know that you can cook almost anything in a camp oven that you can cook in an oven at home? The question we are often asked is, How can I get the temperature in my oven at the right level for my recipe?

OK, this method may not be completely accurate, however it is accurate enough to be able to prepare a great meal in the camp oven every time.

Testing Your Camp Oven Temperature - The Paper Test.

* Pre-heat the oven on a bed of coals.

* Remove the lid

* Place a piece of paper inside the oven to find out at what heat the oven is.

The paper will change colour according to the heat of the oven within a few moments.

Heat v Degrees Paper Test

Very Hot Oven 500 Dark Brown

Hot Oven 375-400 Light brown
Moderate oven 325-375 yellow
Slow oven 250-325 Crust
WAY TOO HOT Black & on fire!
