Well I stayed here with friends in winter 2007. I liked it but
wouldn't want to stay more than three of four days.
The toilets are standard but well maintained. There is a nice, clean
laundry facility at the end of the ablution block. The free bbq's are
nice and are underneath a lovely gazebo area. There is also clean
pool ... and ... that's about it.
BUT ... during winter Poona Progress Assoc. has meals on a Friday
night for $6 (chicken schnitzel!) AND on a Saturday the park owner and
his wife cook up some snags with a GREAT potato bake for NOTHING! So
long as you are there at the time it will cost you NOTHING. This was
the highlight of our stay and whilst it may seem 'ordinary' it was
really great to meet up with other travellers as well as the park
owner and his wife.
The park is right next to the Great Sandy Strait complete with boat
ramp for those with a dinghy or whatever.
So far as Poona itself is concerned there is bugga all else there so
it really is meant for the fisho or just a weekender.
I intend to go back ... maybe winter '10.
